The Cool Notes

The Cool-Notes from South London started their career back in the mid 1970’s originally as a 7 piece band consisting of 2 girls and 5 guys. Their early success came in the form of a reggae band who then went on to become one of the major forces in the then new emerging British Lovers Rock scene.

The Cool-Notes enjoyed many hits as a reggae band with some becoming current day classics. Songs like, ‘My Tune – I will Always Love You – I’ve got To Let Him Know – Billy The Kid – Just Girls – You Are What You Are’ and many more.

It was in 1983 that the band took up a natural change and became a Soul band and continued making hits. In August 1984 The Cool-Notes first made an impression on the UK Soul scene with a number one summer smash hit ‘You’re Never Too Young’ which also entered the UK national charts to No.42. Then followed ‘I Forgot’ UK Top 75 at No.63 (1984) ‘Spend The Night’ just missing the Top 10 at No.11 (1985) ‘In Your Car’ at No.13 just to name a few. In the mid-eighties they also enjoyed many hits throughout Europe including Top 10’s in Germany, Austria, Holland, Belgium and also became very well known in France.

Currently the band consists of the two original members - Stephen McIntosh and Heather Harewood. Heather has been singing and performing successfully on the solo scene, while Steve McIntosh has been busy writing and producing production music for radio, TV and films, and has been enjoying enormous success. And if that wasn’t enough he’s also the manager of the band S Club 3 and Big Brovaz and Booty Luv who are also with Fireproof Talent.

To date, Heather Haywood and Steve McIntosh are in the studio recording a brand new album for the Cool-Notes along with another original band member Jo Francis, who unfortunately due to ill health is unable to join them in their live performances . The band started this new album by request of their very large fan base, although at the moment the album is untitled and is planned for release sometime this year 2025.
